Running Le Marathon du Mont St Michel

Headmaster Peter Roberts will be running a marathon to raise money for Catching Lives and Porchlight.

The Headmaster has embarked upon a big fundraising drive for some really important and wonderful charities by running Le Marathon du Mont St Michel in Normandy the Saturday of Half Term (26th May).

Each morning, before the King’s School gets going, he walks his dogs up to Burgate for a run across the field and grass of St. Augustine’s and as he progresses, a sense of just how tough it is for the rough sleepers, the vulnerably housed and the homeless in the City strikes him. Walking past those in sleeping bags, or wrapped in cardboard and bags under the arches of the shops, demonstrates the absolute importance of Catching Lives, with its hostel near Canterbury East train station (and charity bookshop in the crooked shop by Mint Yard Gate) and Porchlight, with its hostel, specialising in looking after younger homeless people. King’s has always done its bit, including the August when Peter Wells (former Headmaster of The Junior King’s School) and Peter Roberts ‘slept rough’ in the Precincts to raise money and awareness.

We wish the Headmaster luck with his charity run and ask you to be generous in your support.
