The Malthouse and International College Win National Architecture Awards

The Malthouse and The King’s School, Canterbury International College have both been awarded RIBA (Royal Institute of British Architects) National Awards for 2021.

Earlier this year, the Malthouse also won the South East Building of the Year 2021, South East Award and the South East Conservation Award 2021 by RIBA. The International College also picked up a South East Award.

The judges unanimously agreed that the industrial Malthouse is an exemplar of how to repurpose an existing building for a range of uses and users, in an imaginative, honest and sensitive way and described the conversion as combining ‘a freshness of approach while sensitively retaining the character of the existing building’.
