Holocaust Memorial Day in Canterbury

Holocaust Memorial Day is on Monday 27th January and this year, Canterbury Cathedral are putting on some special events which all OKS are invited to if they wish to attend.

This Holocaust Memorial Day marks 75 years since the anniversary of the Liberation of Auschwitz. This year, the theme of Holocaust Memorial Day is "Standing Together" and the Cathedral hopes to welcome people from a range of communities to mark this important event. 

Monday 27th January 2020 - Canterbury Cathedral

3pm - Walking Tour of Jewish Canterbury

Exploring the history of Canterbury's Jewish community.

4.15pm - Talk on the Jewish History of Canterbury and Records relating to Jewish History

Folllowed by an opportunity to browse the documents with experts on hand.

5.30pm - Choral Evensong of Rememberance and Prayer

Led by members of the Cathedral Community, together with representatives of Jewish and Islamic faiths.

6.15pm - Refresments

With an opportunity to meet and chat with members of other communities. 

For the 3pm and 4.15pm session please meet in the Visitor Centre ten minutes before the start of the session you are interested in, next to the main gate of the Cathedral. For the service, please enter the Cathedral grounds and the staff on the gate will direct you.
