Henley Regatta Report 2019

The Henley Royal Regatta is one of the best-known regattas in the world - a well-loved sporting and social event.

This year, the Henley Royal Regatta was held from Wednesday 3rd to Sunday 7th July.

Read the report, written by Jon Williamson below:

"The School’s 1st Eight’s campaign for this year's Henley Royal Regatta started really at Schools Head but to ensure being part of the draw we were asked to qualify. This the Eight duly did in fine style comfortably making the top 2 of the qualifying crews. Times are not disclosed but we are confident that we were the quickest.

Having moved up to Henley on Sunday evening the crew spent 2 days paddling over the course doing various bursts and pieces against other crews in preparation. The crew had drawn a selected St Edwards crew and on Wednesday morning raced them but finding them a little too strong and lost by 3 lengths. That crew on Thursday then beat Kings College Wimbledon by 2 lengths....the KCW crew made the Champ Eights final at National Schools.

All the crew are 6b or younger which promises much we hope for next year. After the race, all parents crew, support and pupils were joined by OKS at the marquee to celebrate being at the Regatta and ensuring that it continues. many thanks to parents and OKS for providing the catering and great company."
