Coats and Candles: Chaplaincy Events this Advent

There are two major chaplaincy events taking place in the next couple of weeks in the School, and OKS are invited to join us.

Winter Coats for Rough Sleepers Drive

As a School community, we are moved by the number of rough sleepers who are enduring cold nights on the streets, literally on our doorstep. The newspapers already have stories of rough sleepers dying this winter on the streets and this continues to shock us.

We have teamed up the 'Catching Lives' charity in Canterbury, and with their help, we will be distributing warm winter coats, hats, gloves and scarves to the rough sleepers for the winter. From now until the 8th December, any donations of good quality coats, hats, gloves and scarves can be left in the Memorial Chapel in School.

If you have any of these items languishing in your wardrobes at home and would like to bring them in, we would be very pleased to receive them.

Advent Carol Service

Secondly, I would like to bring to your attention our beautiful Advent Carol Service on Sunday 1st December at 6.30pm in the Cathedral. This is a wonderful way to pause before the busyness of Christmas preparations to remind ourselves of the love of God shown to us in his son Jesus, and to help us reflect on how we can show that love in our world today.

You are also invited to refreshments in the Pupil Social Centre after the service. This event is not ticketed, but t help us cater for refreshments do let us know if you are intending on coming.
