Round the Island Race 2019

When

Friday 28th June - Sunday 30th June 2019

Where

Cowes, Isle of Wight

The annual Round the Island Race, organised by the Island Sailing Club, is a one-day yacht race around the Isle of Wight. The race regularly attracts over 1,400 boats, and around 15,000 sailors.

As we have done for the last 7 years, King's has chartered three 43ft yachts for 2019, one for parents, one for pupils and one for OKS!

The three King's boats compete for the 597 trophy (597 being the year that St Augustine established the King's School sailing Club by sailing to England to bring Christianity to these shores). The parents (current holders) and pupils have each won the 597 Trophy twice, but the OKS are still ahead with three wins.

The programme for the weekend is as follows:

Evening Thursday 27th June / Morning Friday 28th June - Join the boat at Haslar Marina, Gosport

Friday 28th June - Race training in the Solent & dinner at the Royal Yacht Club, Cowes

Saturday 29th June - Round the Island Race with a BBQ supper on the top balcony of the Island Sailing Club, Cowes

Sunday 30th June - Return yachts to Haslar Marina (latest by 15:00)

Please contact Richard Ninham if you are interested in taking part.
