The OKS Association invite you to attend the second event in our series of Breakfast Networking. This session will focus on the  Legal Sector. 

These Breakfast Networking sessions lie at the heart of OKS Careers, allowing OKS to network, but also the chance to learn, share and disseminate knowledge relating to their respective industries.

Our Panellists: 

James Linforth (BR 1985 - 1990) - Partner,  Stepheson Harwood LLP

James is the head of Stephenson Harwood's banking team. His expertise lies in debt funded transactions with a focus on real estate finance and acquisition finance. James spends most of his time advising borrowers and lenders on a wide variety of real estate finance and acquisition finance transactions, usually with a cross-border element.  James' clients consist of funds, joint venture vehicles, corporates and banks and their deals are often highly structured, so James is regularly advising different parties in the capital stack on complex inter-creditor issues.

Tim Amos QC (SH 1977-1981) - Barrister, QEB

Tim is a mediator and barrister in international family law.  He has practised at QEB as a barrister since 1988 and as QC since 2008. His practice spans all aspects of family law but he is predominantly known as an expert in “big money” family finance, married or unmarried, and alive or dead (including claims under the Inheritance Act). Tim is ranked in Band One of The Legal 500 and of Chambers UK Bar Directory for Matrimonial Finance.  The Legal 500 says: “ He is one of the sector’s biggest intellects and approaches each case from every angle with remarkable pace and agility ; Chambers Bar Directory says “ Completely wonderful: he’s very wise, he’s always beautifully prepared and he has immense gravitas. He’s very strategic in his thinking. When you go to conference with him, you know he will be ready to advise and he will have thought about it in the round ”.

Rosie Cornick (BR 2003-2008) - Legal Counsel, Freud Communications

Rosie trained and qualified in a small corporate commercial firm and then moved in house 2 years ago as Legal Counsel as part of a 2 person legal team at PR agency, Freud Communications. In this role, she deals with anything and everything that comes up in the somewhat unpredictable media industry as well as all the issues you could imagine coming up in the general operations of a company!

Jess Stanion (LX 2005-2010) - Trainee Solicitor, Shearman & Sterling LLP

Jess studied Business Management at Newcastle University, before going on to the University of Law to take the GDL & LPC. Jess is currently undertaking her training contract at Shearman & Sterling's London office. Shearman is a global law firm with clients based in major financial centres and growthmarkets. During her time, she has gained experience in Finance, Tax and International Arbitration at Shearman's Abu Dhabioffice. Her final seat will be in Funds.

The panel will be chaired by our OKS Vice-President  Camilla Jessel (HH 2005-2010)  who is an Associate at Simmons & Simmons.
